OverviewThe Regional Manager, North is responsible for recruitment, training, and retention of year-round volunteers who will provide emergency and seasonal assistance to individuals and families in need; strategic service delivery and fundraising in the Northern region of New Jersey. In addition, the Regional Manager oversees a year-round part-time staff member who is located in our Regional Service Center in Newton, NJ and seasonal staff members. Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and engage new Service Extension (SE) volunteers to assist with service and program delivery in designated coverage area.
  • Manage SE volunteers through open and ongoing communication, providing training and coaching with consistent follow-up to make sure their needs and the needs of the local community are met.
  • Provide direct oversight for seasonal projects such as Christmas Kettles, summer camp, Angel Tree/toy distribution, another large-scale events. Support camper recruitment in assigned areas, arranging transportation if needed, and assist with opening and closing days.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and encouragement to SE volunteers in establishing and maintaining fundraising efforts and ensure they follow proper fundraising guidelines.
  • Support Service Units with the resources and materials needed for servicing their respective communities, including training materials for SE volunteers.
  • Ensure federal, county and private grants are marketed to the community and exhausted before the deadline.
  • Create and maintain accurate and timely reports, training volunteers on the proper reporting process, including statistical, financial, and Kettle income reporting.
  • Assist in yearly budget preparation for the Northern Region.
  • Take initiative to identify community needs and assist in the development and implementation of new Service Unit programs.
  • Maintain open and ongoing communication with Corps Officers in the region, working collaboratively to establish area goals and streamline service delivery.
  • Positively promote The Salvation Army in community relationships and events (including Corps Annual Dinners).
  • Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
    • Bachelors degree or relevant professional experience.
    • At least 2 years experience in fundraising and volunteer recruitment and management.
    • 2-4 years of experience in non-profit service delivery preferred.
    • Ability to work independently (and remotely) with little or no supervision.
    • Ability to manage and lead a diverse group of people in accomplishing established goals.
    • Excellent attention to detail and well-organized, with a proven history of meeting deadlines and set goals.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and others as needed.
    • Marketing, communications and/or graphic design experience is a plus.
    • Valid drivers license, clean driving record, and use of a vehicle is required; ability to travel as needed throughout assigned region, and to Divisional Headquarters in Union, NJ, as necessary.
    • Able to work extended hours, as needed (seasonally: evenings and weekends).
    • Willingness to be on-call for emergencies, as needed.
