Job Title: Radiologic Technologist I Profession: Radiology Tech Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8-hour shifts, Every other weekend, Holidays required Hours per Shift: 40.00 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: - License: Must possess a state license Certifications: Applicant must be able to meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass such examination Must-Have: - High school diploma or equivalent - Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology - Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements Description: The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. This role involves essential generic job functions, including producing diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs. The technologist restricts the radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to ensure non-exposure of radiation to unaffected parts of the patient. Portable x-ray examinations are performed in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms. Operational procedures include identifying patients' films with names and x-ray numbers and correctly marking films according to the side of the patient taken. Exposed x-ray films are developed by available processing methods. Patient requisitions are completed with technologist initials, date, number, and size of film. The technologist maintains an orderly x-ray room as directed by the department head. Preparation of radiopaque contrast media and assistance to physicians in administering contrast mixtures to patients are part of the responsibilities. Administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, film filing, and maintenance of records are required. Services and/or assistance are rendered to all patients, depending on their individual needs and abilities in moving, turning, and getting on and off the x-ray tables. Lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 10 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 6 hours a day are physical demands of the job. Identifying the needs of the patient population served and modifying and delivering care specific to those needs is essential. This process includes clear communication with the patient and/or primary caregivers at their level of understanding. Adherence to organizational competency standards is required.
