Job Description Job Description Leesport Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! We are a full-service veterinary practice located in Berks County, PA. Our Technician Assistants are the primary support for our Veterinary Technicians, and aid the Technicians by relieving them of some routine hospital responsibilities and caring for hospital patients. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves animals and would like to assist in providing quality, compassionate care for pets. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in (or already enrolled in) a veterinary technician certification program. Hours needed: Monday - Friday and must work some Saturdays Responsibilities: Handle general care tasks such as walking dogs, washing water bowls and litter boxes, sweeping, cleaning cages Assist in restraining dogs and cats Washing and folding laundry Stocking supplies Set up and break down of exam rooms and surgery suites Interact with clients and assist in hospital visitations Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams and procedures Lab requisitions and answering phones Qualifications: Previous experience in animal handling care preferred Ability to interact with animals in a calm, non-threatening manner Ability to work as part of a team Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to lift up to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds What we offer: Supportive, team-oriented work environment On-the-job training and mentorship Employee discounts on veterinary services Charitable Giving Day and uniform allowance
